The Rodd D. Brickell Foundation's mission is to fund and sustain
programs in education and research that aid in the prevention of
youth suicide. Additionally by creating awareness and support in the
school system we alert parents to the many dangers of cyberbullying
of adolescents and provide assistance and tools to help combat this
serious problem and its harmful repercussions
The Rodd D. Brickell Foundation envisions an environment where
youth look forward to a bright future with the self-confidence to live
long and productive lives.

Dedicated to honoring the memory of Rodd D. Brickell, the Foundation
was formed and funded over 25 years ago by the Brickell family.
Through the years the generous donations of concerned individuals
and corporate partnerships further enhances the Foundation’s
expansion.
In the last 3 decades there has been a frightening increase in suicide
among young people. Tragically, suicide has become the second major
cause of death in youth ages 13-24. The Brickell Foundation was
formed to combat these alarming and tragic statistics. Through
research, we have learned that negative behavior often begins at a
very young age in the form of “bullying.” Preventing this type of
aggression as early as possible can be the wisest approach. Recent
studies have linked victims of cyberbullying to suicide ideation. The
Rodd D. Brickell Foundation recognizes that this is a modern occurrence
and is focused on reducing the impact on adolescence by championing
prevention programs.
The Rodd D. Brickell Foundation is focused on curtailing the violence
associated with so many adolescents. The Foundation aims to draw
attention to the fact that the violent occurrences at Columbine,
Colorado, Virginia Tech, and Northern Illinois University, which sadly
took many young lives, were ultimately acts of suicide.
